Roblox on Mac: play natively, then make it better
Yes, you can play Roblox on Mac. Roblox has a native macOS app: download it from roblox.com/download or the Mac App Store, run the installer, and sign in. If it won't launch, deleting the app and reinstalling the latest version clears up most macOS issues. Once you're in, the free BetterBLOX extension makes the website side better in Chrome, Edge or Firefox.

Install and fix Roblox on Mac
Roblox ships a real macOS client, so there's nothing to emulate and no workaround to hunt down. Installing it takes a minute, and the issues Mac players hit most have quick fixes.
Download and install the Mac app
- 1 Go to roblox.com/download or open the Mac App Store and search for Roblox.
- 2 Run the installer and, if prompted, drag Roblox into your Applications folder.
- 3 Open the app, sign in, and launch any experience straight from roblox.com or the app.
Roblox supports current versions of macOS on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Keep macOS updated so the client stays compatible.
If it won't run on Mac
- Won't open or install. Delete Roblox from Applications and reinstall the latest version from roblox.com/download. A stale build is the usual culprit.
- Blocked by macOS security. If Gatekeeper flags an unidentified developer, right-click the app and choose Open, or allow it under System Settings then Privacy & Security.
- Stuck launch or updater loop. Quit Roblox fully (Force Quit if needed), remove the app, then reinstall so it pulls the current build.
- Low FPS. Close background apps and lower in-game graphics. The native client runs well on Apple Silicon once it's updated.
- Can't log in. Check your Mac's date and time, sign in once at roblox.com in a browser, then relaunch the app.
Roblox is the app, BetterBLOX is the browser layer
Two things are easy to mix up. Roblox itself is the native Mac app you just installed, and it runs the games. BetterBLOX is a browser extension that upgrades roblox.com, the website, in Chrome, Edge or Firefox. It never touches the game client, so there's no second Mac program to manage and no cost to your in-game performance. Because it works on the site, everything Windows users get in the browser works identically on your Mac: the dark theme, the server region picker, 3D avatars, and the trade and item tools.
What runs where: the honest matrix
The Roblox game client runs on all three platforms. The BetterBLOX extension is fully cross-platform, and both desktop apps now ship a Mac build; only a Chromebook is left to the browser. Pick your platform to see exactly what you can run.

- Works on MacBetterBLOX browser extensionDark theme, server region, 3D avatars, trade tools, item values, private servers
- Works on MacBetterStrap bootstrapperFastFlags, multi-instance launching, mods, local playtime stats. On macOS, FastFlags and mods need multi-instance switched on in Settings first.
- Works on MacBetterLauncherPlaytime overlay, saved accounts, server browser, playtime dashboard
Roblox's own client is the top row. The rows below it are the BetterBLOX products that layer on top.
Roblox on Chromebook works in the browser too
A Chromebook runs ChromeOS, which is built around the Chrome browser, and that's exactly where BetterBLOX lives. If you play Roblox on a Chromebook through the browser or the Play Store app, install the extension in Chrome and you get the same themed roblox.com and the same tools Mac and Windows players see. No workarounds, no side-loading.
- Installs from the Chrome Web Store like any extension.
- Dark theme, server region and 3D avatars, all on a school-friendly device.
- The desktop apps need Windows or macOS, but you don't need them in the browser.
Want desktop features on Mac? BetterStrap is here
The extension covers the whole website on macOS. For desktop-level extras like FastFlags, multi-instance launching and local playtime stats, there's BetterStrap, our Roblox bootstrapper, free on macOS in an Apple silicon and an Intel build — the piece Bloxstrap and its forks have never offered Mac players. BetterLauncher has a Mac build too.

Can I play Roblox on a Mac?
Yes. Roblox runs on macOS both as a downloadable Mac app and in your browser, so you can play on a Mac out of the box. BetterBLOX makes the browser experience much better: a dark theme, server region picker, 3D avatars and more, all on top of roblox.com.
Does the BetterLauncher work on Mac?
Yes. BetterLauncher ships a native macOS build alongside Windows, signed and notarised by Apple, in an Apple silicon and an Intel version. BetterStrap, our Roblox bootstrapper, runs on macOS too, and the free browser extension covers roblox.com in Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
Does BetterBLOX work on a Chromebook?
Yes. ChromeOS runs the Chrome browser, so the BetterBLOX extension installs and works on a Chromebook exactly like it does on Mac: you play Roblox in the browser and BetterBLOX enhances it.
Which browsers does BetterBLOX support on macOS?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox on macOS. Install it from your browser’s official store and open roblox.com. The theme and tools load automatically. There’s no separate Mac download to manage.
Is the Mac version free?
Yes. The extension is completely free on Mac, Chromebook and Windows alike, and so are the BetterLauncher and BetterStrap Mac downloads. Both desktop apps show Overwolf ads on the free tier, on macOS the same as on Windows. Premium ($2.99/month or $19.99/year) removes those and adds the theming web app and cosmetics. Every core tool stays free on every platform.
