BetterLauncher — the Better Roblox Launcher for Windows & Mac
The official Roblox launcher is the free RobloxPlayer app you get from roblox.com/download. If it won't open, reinstalling it or re-allowing the launcher prompt in your browser fixes it most of the time. BetterLauncher is a separate, optional desktop app for Windows and macOS that runs on top of that official client and adds what it leaves out: an in-game playtime overlay, saved accounts you can switch between in a click, a server browser and a playtime dashboard.

The official Roblox launcher is free at roblox.com
The official Roblox launcher is RobloxPlayer, the free client Roblox gives you. Download it from roblox.com/download, run the installer once, and every Play button opens it after that. You do not need anything else to get into a game.
Get the official app at roblox.com/downloadLauncher won't open? Three quick fixes
- 1
Reinstall the client. Uninstall Roblox, then install the latest RobloxPlayer from roblox.com/download. This clears most launch failures.
- 2
Re-allow the browser prompt. When a game asks "Open RobloxPlayer?", click Open and tick "Always allow". If you blocked it before, re-enable the launch prompt in your browser's site settings.
- 3
Clear a stuck process. If a game link does nothing, open Task Manager, end any leftover RobloxPlayerLauncher or RobloxPlayerBeta process, then press Play again.
Everything below is BetterLauncher, the optional desktop app that runs on top of that official client. It adds a playtime overlay, saved accounts and a server browser, and it never replaces RobloxPlayer.
An overlay that stays out of your way
A Roblox launcher with overlay support means the info you want sits on top of the game, not in another window. BetterLauncher draws its playtime panel as an always-on-top window, so it works the same on Windows and macOS and toggles off the instant you do not want it.
Playtime overlay
Hotkey a read-only session panel over the game: how long you have been in, the XP it earned and where this session sits against the rest of your week.
It only ever reads
The widget has no buttons that touch Roblox. It draws over the game as an ordinary always-on-top window, so it behaves the same on Windows and macOS.
The overlay is optional and hotkey-toggleable, so your screen stays yours. If it is frames you are chasing rather than hours, that is the FPS unlocker and FastFlags, and who-is-online lives in the browser extension, which can also show when a friend was last online.

Illustrative demo — no real accounts or cookies. BetterLauncher stores each saved session encrypted for your OS user and launches whichever one you set active — one Roblox client at a time.
Every alt saved in one place
Save as many accounts as you want once and switch to any of them in a click, with no logging out, no cookie pasting and no juggling browser profiles. BetterLauncher runs one client at a time; to open two side by side and trade with yourself, use BetterStrap.

For FastFlags, take BetterStrap
Graphics tuning is not part of BetterLauncher. The FastFlag editor — raw JSON plus a small GUI for the renderer, anti-aliasing, post-processing and 3D grass — and the per-game presets live in BetterStrap, our bootstrapper, on Windows and macOS alike. It is free and the two run happily side by side.

Browse live servers by datacenter
The server browser lists live instances with the datacenter behind each one, so you can join a specific server rather than rerolling. Turn on the server probes in Settings to fill in the region and ping columns; the ping shown is the round trip Roblox reports for the players already inside, not a measurement of your own connection.
More on how to pick your server region.
A playtime tracker built in
The launcher keeps a local playtime tracker of the games you launch, with hours played, sessions and patterns over time, so you can see where your Roblox time actually goes. The detailed history stays on your machine and counts each account you launch separately; session totals sync to your BetterBLOX account so XP and the leaderboards work.
Prefer no desktop app? The browser extension surfaces playtime on the web too, and the same account manager that launches your alts is what keeps their hours apart.
Launcher vs the plain Roblox client
Same games, same account. The launcher just adds the layer Roblox leaves out. Toggle "differences only" to cut to the chase.

BetterLauncher vs BetterStrap: which do you want?
Both are free, both launch Roblox on Windows and macOS, and both come from us. They just aim at different players. Here is the honest split.
BetterLauncher
The full desktop app
- An in-game playtime overlay
- Saved accounts, a server browser and a playtime dashboard
- Windows 10 and 11 through Overwolf, plus a native macOS build
BetterStrap
The lightweight bootstrapper
- A slim launcher that installs and starts Roblox fast
- FastFlags editor, mods and local playtime stats
- Windows and macOS, Apple silicon or Intel
Not sure? Most players who want overlays and a dashboard stay here on BetterLauncher, while anyone after a slim, fast start or the lightest option on a Mac leans to the BetterStrap bootstrapper. You can run both.
Signed, and safe to trust
A desktop app earns more scrutiny than an extension. Here is how the launcher holds up.
Code-signed on both platforms
Distributed and updated through Overwolf on Windows, code-signed so Windows and your antivirus recognise it, and notarised by Apple on macOS.
No cookie pasting needed
Saved accounts go through Roblox’s own sign-in. Pasting a .ROBLOSECURITY value stays available for people who want it, encrypted for your OS user, but nothing asks you for one.
Never injects into games
BetterLauncher starts Roblox and reads its logs. It never writes to game memory and never modifies the client.

Where do I download the official Roblox launcher?
From roblox.com/download. The official Roblox launcher is the free RobloxPlayer app, and the download page installs it in one click. After that, pressing Play on any game opens it automatically. BetterLauncher is a separate, optional desktop app for Windows and macOS that runs on top of that official client; it does not replace it.
The Roblox launcher won't open — how do I fix it?
Most of the time one of three fixes works. Reinstall the latest RobloxPlayer from roblox.com/download, re-allow the "Open RobloxPlayer?" prompt in your browser (or tick "Always allow"), or open Task Manager and end any stuck RobloxPlayerLauncher process before pressing Play again. If it still fails, restart your PC, update Windows, then reinstall.
Is the BetterLauncher free?
Yes. BetterLauncher is free to download and use on Windows, where it installs through Overwolf, and on macOS. The playtime overlay, saved accounts, the server browser and the playtime dashboard are all included at no cost. The free app carries an ad rail; Premium takes it out and unlocks the theming web app at theme.betterroblox.com.
BetterLauncher or BetterStrap: which should I use?
Pick BetterLauncher if you want the full desktop app: saved accounts, a server browser, the playtime overlay and the playtime dashboard. Pick BetterStrap if you want FastFlags, mods and several Roblox clients running at once, in a lightweight bootstrapper. Both are free, and both now run on Windows and macOS.
Can I use the launcher and the browser extension together?
Yes, and they are built to complement each other. BetterLauncher handles launching, saved accounts and the playtime overlay on your Windows or Mac desktop, while the BetterBLOX browser extension re-themes roblox.com and adds site tools. Running both gives you the full set on the web and in-game.
Does the Roblox launcher work on Mac?
Yes. BetterLauncher ships a native macOS build alongside Windows 10 and 11, signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple, in an Apple silicon and an Intel version. The download page has both. The free BetterBLOX browser extension and BetterStrap also run on macOS.
Do I have to paste my Roblox cookie to launch multiple accounts?
No. BetterLauncher signs you in through Roblox’s own login, so nothing asks you for a .ROBLOSECURITY cookie. Pasting one is offered as a fallback for when a captcha or 2FA blocks that login, and the value is encrypted for your OS user. A launcher where the paste is the only way in is the one to avoid.
How does the BetterLauncher update?
Automatically, either way: through Overwolf on Windows and direct from our own update feed on macOS. Fixes land in the background and are ready the next time you open the app, with nothing to reinstall.
Is a third-party Roblox launcher safe, or can it get me banned?
A launcher that just starts Roblox for you and draws a read-only panel over it does not break the rules. BetterLauncher is code-signed — notarised by Apple on macOS, distributed through Overwolf on Windows — and it never injects into games, so it keeps you on the right side of Roblox.
What is the best Roblox launcher for Windows?
The best Roblox launcher is the one that adds what you actually use without risking your account. BetterLauncher focuses on the essentials: saved accounts, a server browser, the playtime overlay and a playtime dashboard, all free, signed and safe. If FastFlags and running several clients at once are what you are after, BetterStrap is the one to take.
