How to show your Roblox game on Discord

Roblox Discord Rich Presence shows the game you are currently playing on your Discord profile, as a "Playing Roblox" status with the experience name. Roblox does not do this on its own, so it comes from a launcher that notices which experience you joined and reports it to Discord. It never asks for your Roblox password — the launcher spots the session in Roblox’s own logs on your PC and names the game using the account you already added to the launcher.

This is a feature of the Roblox launcher from BetterBLOX. The BetterLauncher notices which experience you joined and forwards the name to Discord for you, so you do not have to wire anything up by hand.

How Rich Presence works

Discord shows a game status only when an app tells it what you are playing. For most games that app is the game itself. Roblox does not send that signal, which is why a normal Roblox session leaves your Discord looking idle. A launcher with Rich Presence sits alongside your game, notices which experience you have joined by reading Roblox’s own log files on your PC, and passes the name to the Discord app running on your PC. Discord then displays it. Nothing about the handoff needs your account password.

What actually gets shared

This is the part worth being clear about. The game name on Discord comes from the launcher: it spots the session in Roblox’s own log files on your PC, then asks Roblox what that place is called using the account you added to the launcher. No region is sent. You add that account once, through Roblox’s own login — pasting a .ROBLOSECURITY value is only a fallback for when a captcha or 2FA blocks that. The session never leaves the launcher’s main process, where it is stored encrypted with a key derived from this machine. What reaches Discord is only the game name, whether the server is private, and your elapsed time.

If it is not showing up

Two things usually explain a blank status. First, the desktop Discord app has to be open, since the browser version cannot display game activity. Second, Discord has a privacy toggle called "Display current activity as a status message" under Activity Privacy, and it needs to be on. Turn that on, keep Discord running while you play through the launcher, and the game should appear. You can switch the whole thing off in the launcher any time you would rather keep quiet.

Rich Presence questions

Why is Discord not showing my Roblox game?

Discord only shows a game when something is telling it what you are playing. Roblox by itself does not send that, so a plain Roblox session shows nothing. You need a launcher with Rich Presence support running alongside the game, and in Discord you need "Display current activity as a status message" turned on under Activity Privacy.

Is Roblox Rich Presence safe?

Yes, within limits. The BetterLauncher notices which experience you joined by reading Roblox’s own log files on your PC, then names that experience using the Roblox account you already added to the launcher. It never asks for your Roblox password. The saved session stays in the launcher’s main process, encrypted with a key derived from this machine, and the only thing that reaches Discord is the game name, whether the server is private, and how long you have been in it.

What does the Discord status actually show?

It shows that you are playing Roblox, which experience you are in, whether the server is private, how long you have been in it, and a View game button. BetterStrap can also append the server’s region; BetterLauncher does not. It does not expose your account credentials or anything private.

Can I turn Rich Presence off?

Yes. It is a feature you enable, not something forced on. You can switch it off in the launcher whenever you would rather keep your game private, and Discord also lets you hide activity entirely in its privacy settings.
