How do you emote in Roblox?
To emote in Roblox, open the emote wheel from the in-game menu, or type a chat command like /e dance, then pick the animation you want. Your avatar plays the emote for everyone in the server to see. You choose which emotes sit in that wheel ahead of time by equipping them in the avatar editor.
Emotes are a native Roblox feature, so you do not need anything extra to use them. What the free BetterBLOX extension adds is a 3D avatar viewer on every profile, which is handy for checking how your character looks before you go show off a new emote or outfit in front of a full server.
How to open the emote menu in-game
While you are in an experience, tap the emote button. On PC it lives in the top-left menu once you open it, on mobile it is a small icon near your other controls, and on console it sits in the radial menu. That opens the emote wheel, where your equipped emotes are laid out in a ring. Click or select one and your avatar plays it right away. If you prefer typing, the default chat commands do the same thing without opening any menu.
Setting up your favorite emotes
The emote wheel only shows the emotes you have equipped. Head to your avatar editor and open the Animations or Emotes tab. Roblox gives you a set of free defaults, and any emote bundles or animation packs you own from the Avatar Shop show up here too. Drag the ones you use most into your equipped slots. Those are the emotes that then appear in the wheel in every game that keeps the emote menu on.
Where emotes work and where they don't
Default emotes work in the huge majority of experiences because they are built into Roblox. Purchased emotes work anywhere the emote menu is enabled. The exception is games where the developer has switched emotes off or built their own animation system on top. If your wheel and your /e commands both do nothing, that game has simply turned the feature off, and there is no setting on your side that will bring it back.
